This blog was set up in 2004 to aggregate news about Egyptology and related topics from online sources on a regular basis.
Kat Newkirk has been my partner in this enterprise almost from the moment that I woke up on my 40th birthday and thought that an Egyptology news blog might be a useful facility. Ben Morales-Correa jumped in to take over the blog in late 2008 and early 2009 when I was unable to update it myself, for which my very sincere thanks. Kate Phizackerley of News from the Valley of the Kings (www.kv64.info) is an occasional and very welcome author.
There are many other contributors to this weblog, a welcome group of online friends who send me links, news and thoughts when you can. You are all an essential part of this blog, with my sincere thanks.
You can follow the blog on Twitter at http://twitter.com/egyptologynews You can listen to the blog, thanks to the excellent Odiogo.com, by clicking on the "Listen Now" icon at the top of each post. The voice is male and American whereas I am female and English, but it is a marvelous solution for anyone who is visually impaired and finds long chunks of text difficult to handle. Beware that some Egyptian and other unusual names and places may be a little distorted.
If you have a real interest in Egyptology do check out the free online Egyptology journal, magazine and discussion centre, Egyptological, established by myself and Kate Phizackerley in the Spring of 2011. We are always looking for writers with interesting topics so do get in touch if you feel that you have something to offer: http://www.egyptological.com
