Being somewhat knowledable about Roman pottery at the time that was something of a disapointment! Some people have all the luck :-).

Stuart, it's not a show that I watch but I'm very sad that I missed that one!

You really do have to wonder how something that distinctive ended up in the vegetable patch!Andiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03342690442454499340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-10262025946267254522010-12-08T16:19:25.907+00:002010-12-08T16:19:25.907+00:00Andie,

Check your gardens!
I suspect that there are quite a few AE items on shelves in old UK estates.
RHBRhio Barnharthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12983272461548684949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-17389239288787290942010-12-08T13:34:06.172+00:002010-12-08T13:34:06.172+00:00Lovely! I agree, it doesn't have a Uraes, therefore probably isn't a Pharaoh. But who cares! It's Ancient Egyptian and beautiful.AliceGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15538297822954450692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-37157474828908736462010-12-08T13:25:23.594+00:002010-12-08T13:25:23.594+00:00Reminds me of XIIIth dynasty's officials statu...Reminds me of XIIIth dynasty's officials statues (vizier Ankhu etc.).

I wonder how it ended up there...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-28158797506453916672010-12-08T12:41:05.018+00:002010-12-08T12:41:05.018+00:00Great story. I will add that for a Pharaoh, there is no Uraeus, but the article most likely meant "shaped like a statue from the Pharonic period", rather than "shaped as a Pharaoh". It looks like it may have been sculpted from sandstone and reminds me of the Middle Kingdom statues. Very nice indeed. I missed the show (typically) but will look out for it in the future,

StuartStuart Tylerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03852168221500295895noreply@blogger.com
