Basically, even though Amarna itself seems to be calm and quiet, the security police have ordered the closure of the work and the evacuation of the team, to take place tomorrow. They therefore have no choice but to go to Cairo, where they will keep their heads down until the majority can leave the country."Boris A. A friend of mine pointed out that the damage inflicted looks as though the looters were actually trying to separate the gold from the other material, presumably to melt down and sell. All of this needs to be confirmed, and in all the chaos I think that confirmation from reliable sources will take some time.Andiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03342690442454499340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-81139510276748809402011-01-30T17:15:43.415+00:002011-01-30T17:15:43.415+00:00Thanks very much Boris. Thanks very much Boris.Andiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03342690442454499340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-27557466825567991522011-01-30T17:13:40.764+00:002011-01-30T17:13:40.764+00:00That makes it even worse in my book! "Staged" The damage to the Cairo museum in the photos that I've seen does not look as bad as it could be. Yes, any damage is bad, but it could have been much worse. If they totally looted the gift shop, they had plenty of time to do a greeat deal more damage. One does wonder now in after thought if it was the protesters. Very well could be a ploy of the government to make those people look worse. Time will tell the whole story.AliceGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15538297822954450692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-38996897421483100742011-01-30T15:25:38.639+00:002011-01-30T15:25:38.639+00:00Just wanted to point out that Wafaa el-Saddik is a...Just wanted to point out that Wafaa el-Saddik is a she, not a he.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6760875.post-73136636971436093932011-01-30T15:17:41.577+00:002011-01-30T15:17:41.577+00:00Acording to Wafaa as-Sadik, the museum at memphis ...Acording to Wafaa as-Sadik, the museum at memphis has been completely looted.

Reported from german newspaper "ZEIT":
http://www.zeit.de/politik/ausland/2011-01/interview-el-saddikAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
