A race against time to dig up Sudan's past

A Herald Tribute item: "Sudan is preparing to build a giant dam at the Nile's fourth cataract, a point where rocks interrupt the river's flow, and white water swirls. The project risks submerging some of Sudan's lofty past even as it promises to be a foundation for the future". This item raises some of the issues about the necessity of rescue excavation in the face of flooding of an important archaeological area.
