A short update re the Iowa mummies:

Officials at the Putnam Museum in Davenport hope modern technology will upwrap the history of 2 mummies. The mummies underwent CT scans at a hospital yesterday. Radiologist Andrew Berkow says he probably won't be able to determine the exact ages when the mummies died but the remains could hold other information. For instance, were they children or adults when they died and did they suffered any diseases or malnutrition?

One mummy is estimated at 2,000 years old. Berkow says it's a male. Scans of the other mummy didn't show any noticeable fractures, but indicated it was a young female.
