Hawass hails French role in preserving Karnak Temple

Dr. Zahi Hawass, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Antiquities, voiced his pride given the upgrading of the Karnak Temple which helped preserve its decades-long status and importance thanks to the Egyptian-French joint cooperation for 40 years.

In his speech during the celebration made at Karnak arena yesterday 2-12-2007, Hawass said the Egyptian-French cooperation achieved immense results and great finds in this historical area.

The SCA Chief described France as the closest country to Egypt as regards cooperation and partnership to preserve Egypt's heritage.

For his part, Michelle Sochaux, the Deputy of French Minister for International Cooperation, hailed the occasion which expresses the status which Egypt's civilization enjoys in the hearts of the French.
