The name "Nadura" means "the look-out", and the ruined site is all that remains of one of many Roman forts in Kharga Oasis. The surviving temple, which was once enclosed within the fort, dates to the 2nd Century A.D.. The sand surrounding the temple is carpeted with broken pottery.
