A fortified hilltop site containing multiple mudbrick structures and a stone temple dedicated to Amun, Mut and Khons (the Theban Triad). The fortifications date to the Roman occupation, but the temple is earlier, possibly dating from the reign of the Persian king Darius I. It was elaborated during the reign of Ptolemy III and contains the names of a number of subsequent Ptolemaic rulers.

Who is Persian king Amasis II?
I knew king Amasis as pharaoh of XXVI dynasty, from Sais.
Hello Pier. I have no idea what made me write Amasis. It should have been Darius I, and I've now changed this in the main post. Thanks very much for pointing it out!
