This may seem like a bit of an odd set of photos for an Egyptology blog, but I've been looking through my 2006 photos of a visit to the Eastern Desert. On the way back from Quesir, traveling up the Red Sea coast towards Cairo, I was absolutely staggered at the sheer amount of building and development taking place along the coastline. It is a side of Egypt that I had simply never seen before, never having ventured east of the Nile (except for a fleeting visit across the Delta). I thought that it might interest some visitors to see a couple of photographs of a tiny fraction of that development work.
