Tourism: Japanese tourists in Egypt up by 47% in 2007

Egypt State Information Service

“The number of Japanese tourists visiting Egypt rose to over 129,000 in 2007, up 47 percent in comparison with 2006,” Tourism Minister Zoheir Garana said Wednesday6/2/2008, while addressing the inaugural session of Japan's Sapporo Snow Festival where Egypt is this year's honorary guest.

The number could further rise if Egyptian and Japanese airlines expanded the accommodating capacity of two-way flights, he said.

He noted that Egypt was seeking to lure more Japanese tourists, highlighting the depth of Egyptian-Japanese relations.

While in Japan, Garana conferred with representatives from the Japanese airlines and key tourist companies on means of boosting bilateral cooperation, especially in the training domain.
