Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak and Prince Albert of Monaco will inaugurate Friday11/7/2008 the Pharaonic "Queens of Egypt" exhibition in the city of Monte Carlo, capital of the principality of Monaco.
The exhibition features the queens of Egypt's Pharaonic eras and their roles in developing life in Egypt over 5,000 years.
Culture Minister Farouk Hosni said the event is organized in conjunction with the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) and nine world museums including the Egyptian museum.
The exhibition has the aim of projecting the status and role of women in Ancient Egypt as queens, princesses or even goddesses who held a more important status than the king himself or the high priest, the Culture Minister said.
The exhibition would incorporate around 150 Pharaonic relics and statues shedding light on the role of women in ancient Egypt. The exhibition is established on 4,000 square metres.
Dr. Wafaa el-Seddiq, director general of the Egyptian Museum said the exhibition brought in 250,000 euros in material gain while insurance worth $245 million.
