Mirror case of Asetmachbjt

CESRAS

Thanks very much to Rio Barnhart for sending me the above "page of the month" on the CESRAS website. It shows detailed photographs of the stunning mirror-case of princess Astemachbjt "D" from the 21st (Theban) Dynasty.

Asetemachbjt (Isetemkheb) "D" was the sister-wife of the High Priest of Amun, Paynedjem II. The remains of her burial were found in 1881 in the Royal Cache (TT320) at Deir el-Bahri in the Theban necropolis. However, evidence of water damage to her funerary equipment indicate that this was not her original place of burial. CESRAS is continuing research on this question.
