Exhibition: 5,000 Years of Egyptian Legend

The National Museum of Korea will hold the "5,000 Years of Egyptian Legend" exhibition from April 28 to August 30, 2009 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its opening.

The large-scale Egyptian exhibition will be hosted under the auspices of the Egyptian Embassy in Seoul, the Austrian Embassy in Seoul, and South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The exhibition will feature a total of 231 top-quality original works carefully chosen from "Egypt-Oriental Collection" from Kunsthistorisches Museum of Austria.

An embassy source said that the exhibition will be bigger, and better, and more extensive than any other Egyptian exhibitions previously held in South Korea.

The source said that the exhibition will be a case in which spectators will see and understand the civilization of mythical ancient Egypt.

The exhibition items include a Pharaoh's stone image, a sedentary statue, a sphinx and worship animal statues, mummies, ceremony of the dead, casks, amulets, incantation, pots, gravestones, tools, letters,a toilet set, and ornaments.
