Lanny Bell discovered his lifelong passion for archeology in the 8th grade.
He will soon be sharing some of his scholarly zeal for Egyptian history here at UMKC.
"I took an Ancient History class and when everyone else had moved on to Greece and Rome, I was still stuck on Egypt," Bell said.
In high school, he was lucky enough to have a dedicated Latin teacher who offered to teach a group of students Biblical Greek after school without pay.
He jumped at that opportunity with the hopes of studying ancient languages one day.
Over the years, he has picked up six languages.
Since high school, Bell has been connected with two major expeditions, retired from a 20-year career teaching Egyptian history at Brown University and travelled the world sharing what he knows about the ancient civilization.
