Egyptian authorities have launched a project to restore the temples of Mit Rahina (Memphis), the capital of ancient Egypt, protect them from the threat of groundwater and enclose the 7km area within protective walls. A visitor centre and bazaars are also part of the plan. There is a budget of 7 million dollars for the project.
Las autoridades egipcias han lanzado un proyecto para restaurar los templos de la zona de Mit Rahina, a 32 kilómetros al sur de El Cairo, que acogió la antigua capital de Egipto, Menfis, en el año 3.100 antes de Cristo.
El proyecto tiene el objetivo de rescatar de las aguas subterráneas los templos situados en este área, informó hoy el Consejo Supremo de Antigüedades en un comunicado.
