I won't delete it - the archive will still be there. I will also continue to moderate comments.
Instead, I will start posting news items to my Twitter account, which will take much less time and can be done on a rather more ad hoc basis. @egyptologynews, for anyone interested.
If you still wish for a blog-based news service there are lots of them out there. When I started Egyptology News it was the only such service, but lots of other people are now doing a similar job. Just do a Google search and see which one you like the best. EEF produce a weekly round-up, too.
My eternal thanks and a huge hug to Kat Newkirk, who has been copying me on news emails for years and years. Kat, please keep me on your distribution list - I will be using it for Twitter instead.
My sincere thanks to all of you who have followed the blog over the years too - it has been fun.

Andie, this is a bit of a shock but totally understandable as I've been feeling exactly the same about Talking Pyramids.
As you know, I've been doing daily updates on Twitter for the past 4 years and find posting news updates to Twitter is much easier and less time consuming than blogging about them.
There is a Twitter plug in that bundles all your tweets and automatically posts them as a blog post, say, once a week, or even daily if you like. You might consider this option for those who subscribe to your blog so that there is basically no change as far as they are concerned.
You've made the right decision. Now enjoy the freedom!

Sorry to hear you're closing down this blog. I've been following it for a few years and thought you did a fantastic job. As a blogger, I understand all too well how hard it can be to make time to write and update a blog, especially if you have other committments.
