The Tomb of Nefertari

Sincere thanks to the eternally helpful Nigel Hetherington for this information:
"The tomb of Nefertari is currently closed and hopefully will remain so identifiably It is correct that private groups can gain access by paying $5000 for a group of 20 for a maximum visit time of 20 minutes. The ethics of this is debatable, however if the money was to be re-directed to conservation work than it would be worth considering. Currently this money goes to the treasury like all SCA ticket revenue and the SCA receive a grant for their work each year. This is not unusual it happens in most countries. In fact on a related topic this is what will happen to the revenues from the current Tut tour of America. Despite Dr Zahi’s claims to the money, the revenues will go to the treasury and not directly to conservation work in Egypt or the development of the Grand Egyptian Museum".
