The Pyramid Puzzle

An article describing the Giza pyramids, focusing on the puzzle of how and why they were constructed, (including some of the more unusual theories, but excluding space aliens): "It is a mystery which no one has been able to fathom, as to how these giant stones were moved to the site of the pyramid, leave alone lifted to any height at all. One ancient historian suggests that it has taken 400,000 men, 20 years to build the Great Pyramid, using ramps, ropes, and sheer human muscle to move the stones. But modern historians refute that viewpoint. They argue that no rope could hold such a colossal weight and even the time period of 20 years is too short a time to build such a gigantic structure."
