Ashmolean Museum Egyptian Galleries

http://www.ashmolean.org/plan/galleryclosures/
I am planning a visit to Oxford (U.K.) to see the Egyptian galleries at the Ashmo, so I gave them a quick call to make sure that the galleries are actually open during the £61-million redevelopment.

The nice lady on the phone said that they were certainly open at the moment, but that they this may change in the next few months. Basically, if you are thinking of visiting the Ashmo to see the Egyptian collections (or any others, for that matter) the safest solution will be to phone the museum: +(00)44 (0)1865 278015

Hi Andie

This is exactly what happened to my friend and I a couple of months ago. We left Cornwall at 6.00am on the train to Oxford for the day - only to find the Ashmo Egyptian galleries closed (this hadn't been posted on their website). All was not lost as we got to visit the Pitt-Rivers Museum instead - something we don't usually get time for. Yes, it certainly is a good idea to phone and check on opening.
