Many thanks to Rick Menges for pointing me at a blog which I hadn't seen before (breaking news and rumours from the Valley of the Kings, with a special focus on KV64), which also has a news story about a current excavation. The photographs on the above post show an excavation that was in progress in early January. Kate says that the photographs in the above post are currently underway in the central area by KV62. As she says, the photos clearly show walls. The photographer, Ian Emery, has no additional details about the excavation so it will be a matter of waiting for some more details to emerge.
