Luxor, or Thebes as it was known to the ancients, is a bustling city dominated by two massive temples. Karnak and Luxor Temples loom on the horizon but close up the scale is daunting. Everything here was built to reflect the status of the pharaohs. Karnak was called "Ipet-Isut" - 'The Most Perfect of Places' - and covers 100 acres. As you delve deep into the temple the monuments get older."
