Berlin newspaper joins Nefertiti debate

A Berlin newspaper has jumped in to support the German decision that the Nefertiti bust should not travel. In addition to reporting the newspaper's comments, this page has by far the best account of the bust's history since its discovery, including Hitler's plans for it. It is the first time I've seen it suggested that the bust was allowed to leave Egypt because it was simply not appreciated as a work of art by Ottoman standards, and in comparison to other pharaonic styles.
