Egyptian mummies exhibition opens in Stutgart

The Egyptian Mummy Exhibition opened Saturday at the German city of Stutgart, Al-Ahram reported on Sunday 6/10/2007.

Guenter Ottinger, Prime Minister of the German state of Baden Wurttemburg, thanked Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak for sponsoring this fair.

He praised the strong ties between Egypt and his state, citing close cultural and scientific cooperation. The premier said Egypt is a heavyweight country in the region and Germany is interested in enhancing its ties with it.

Egyptian ambassador to Germany Mohammad El-Orabi addressed the audience on behalf of Mrs. Mubarak.

He said the exhibition is a source of pride to all Egyptians and reflected a German Egyptomania. The ambassador said the University of Stutgart has honoured Mrs Mubarak and bestowed upon her the Honorary Citizenship legion.
