More speculation about mummy of Nefertiti

Egyptian Gazette (Hassan Saadallah)

N.B. This story will expire shortly on the above URL. It was a very short piece so it has been reproduced here in full.

This is a frustratingly vague piece (the "American Egyptologist" is not named and the tomb in Luxor is not identified), and should therefore, perhaps, be taken with a pinch of salt. Also, I have seen no reference to the story elswhere, although it's possible that I've overlooked something:

Egypt's top antiquity official has questioned a claim by a US archaeologist that the mummy of Queen Nefertiti is located in a tomb in the southern Egyptian town in Luxor, reports Hassan Saadallah .

“This announcement is not based on strong evidence,” said Zahi Hawass, the Secretary-General of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA).He added that studies were needed to verify the claim. The US expert has said that the alleged Nefertiti mummy had been embalmed in a way, which was familiar in the era of King Akhenatoun, Nefertiti's husband. He added that the mummy was lying in a tomb in the Valley of Queens in Luxor.
