Exhibition: Egypt's antiquities move from Hokkaido to Kumamoto

Egypt State Information Service

Egypt's antiquities exhibition in Japan will move from Hokkaido Museum of Art to Kumamoto Museum of Art, Culture Minister Farouk Hosni said Saturday 29/3/2008.

The Egyptian antiquities will be showcased in Kumamoto exhibition, which will be inaugurated on April, 10 and until June, 8.

This is the ninth tour of Egyptian antiquities to take place, Hosni said in statements, noting that the exhibition was the first of its kind in Japan in 15 years.

Such exhibitions are held to bring in the money needed to implement rehabilitation projects to preserve Egyptian cultural heritage, the minister said.

Some 327 artifacts dating back to various historical eras will be showcased in the exhibition.

Such artifacts were found by a Japanese Wasida University exploration mission.
