N.B. The story on the above page will expire shortly.

Delegates from the General Congress of the International Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers (FIJET) were impressed by the admirable complete facelift given to the city.

Journalists invited from different world countries to cover FIJET's meeting in Egypt also discovered that Luxor had achieved a remarkable success and restored its lustrous beauty and past. We revealed our impressions to Dr. Samir Farag, Chairman of Luxor's Higher Council, who entertained us to a banquet dinner aboard the floating hotel Sapphire. The guests' admiration to the new image of Luxor increased after they took part in the Sound and Light performance at the Karnak Temple. They showered much praise on the city's beautiful landscapes, clean environment, beautifully-manicured green areas everywhere, clean roads bordered with flowers and plants. During the week-long visit FIJET's delegates and foreign journalists also toured the impressive landscapes and monuments on the western side. They visited the two ancient temples of Luxor and Karnak.

Marking the 55th anniversary, FIJET decided to give its shield to Dr. Samir Farag to express its acknowledgement to major achievements Luxor achieved under his chairmanship.
